
Yuen was enlightened by his music teacher Mr. Sit Hok Chuen during
his school years and started studying saxophone with Mr. Cho Fong
Leung and Miss. Ng Yuet Ha at the age of 14. At the same time he
joined the school band and in the next few years he was the band
captain and student conductor of the band. He had also played in
the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band under the baton of Mr. Pak Wing
Hung and Mr. Lam Man Chung, and studied composition and conducting
with Mr. Sit Hok Chuen. In 2004, Yuen began his studies in the Music
Department of Hong Kong Baptist University, concentrated in Composition
and Music Production under Prof. Chen Kwok Ping, and learnt conducting
with Dr. Jerome Hoberman and Dr. Johnny Poon Ming Lun. To broaden
his horizon in music, Yuen joined the HKBU Jazz Band under the coaching
of Mr. Patrick Lui and Mr. Ted Lo, and recorded ensembles debut
CD Our Set of Standards. Perry is also very actively involved
in the pop music industry. He had frequently performed in various
events and participated in local independent artist Mr. Chet Lam
Yat Fungs CD recording section.
